About Us

Here at The Rusty Spur Winery & Bistro, our core value is to serve 100% Texas cultivated wine.  As a team, we  created this winery for our passion of wine and the love of westerns.  It all began a few years ago, when we took a road trip into the heart of Texas wine county. Seeing all the vastness of Texas grown grapes was captivating!  It was then that we decided, why not bring a little of the wine country to East Texas!  So, the journey began, and we continue to progress as this adventure continues.

Wine to me is something that brings people together. Wine does promote conversation and promote civility, but it’s also fascinating. It’s the greatest subject to study. No matter how much you learn, every vintage is going to come at you with different factors that make you have to think again.”

Morgan Weems and Sherry Key, daughter and mother team started The Rusty Spur in 2020.  In spring of 2022, the transition began from boutique fashion, deli, then to a winery and bistro. This new adventure is fascinating to us! So much to learn, from how grapes are grown, how weather and soil affects each varietal!   It has been a work in progress, learning so many new things as we go! Our passion is to serve some of the best Texas wines in the area!

Hello, everyone! My name is Morgan Weems, I was born and raised in East Texas. I am a wife to an amazing man and mother to two adorable boys! I came from a family where both my parents were business owners who started from the ground up! I love the outdoors, hunting, and traveling to different wineries across the country.  Finally, after trying a couple types of businesses, I was set on starting a winery!

Hello to everyone!  My journey as a business woman began several years ago when I decided to hang up my nursing hat and join the water well business that my late husband started.  I have always loved the aspects of running that business and continue to do so.  A couple of years ago, my daughter and I joined a partnership to start a winery. This new business adventure continues to provide new learning experiences about different wine grapes and wine industry.
